DISCOVERING NOVI LIGURE AND THE SURROUNDINGS

Historical boundary between Piedmont, Lombardy and the Liguria, the Novese territory manages to join places where the industry and the work are predominant to the nature (Novi is the city of the cookies and of the “torrone”) and places that the aulic Italian would define “romite”. Panorama invernale del Monte Taccone

The Padan Plain yields the space here to the Appennines while the Piedmont gives up to the Liguria, not only in the physical meaning, but also in the language spoken by the inhabitants. Our percorse goes along the entire width of the plain, densely cultivated, that from Alessandria comes down, leaving on the right-hand side the Orba torrent, and reaches Novi, then continues until arriving to the industrious cities of Serravalle and of Arquata before entering, through the Alta Scrivia Valley, the Ligurian Appennines over Genoa.

In these zones, the diggings of Libarna should not be forgotten: they remind us our history and the lifestyle practiced, centuries ago, by our ancestors here. In the south of the cities of Serravalle and Arquata and on the borderline between Piedmont and the Liguria, the natural park of Capanne di Marcarolo is of particular interest and we strongly recommend to visit it.

Un giardino presso il torrente BorberaAn itinerary that brings us from the North to the South and that introduces us to the ancient city of Novi, with its painted palaces, with its particular architectonic features of Genovese urban planning and with the taste of the “focaccia”. This territory pushes us also to lean out more to the west until reaching the Borbera Valley and grazing Emilia and the highest reliefs of the province.
