THE NATURAL RESERVE OF THE ORBA
The
reserve created along the banks of the Orba torrent on a surface of 250
hectares, protects the plain part of the torrent near the village of
Predosa and in the area between the villages of Retorto,
Bosco Marengo and
Casalcermelli.

Heir of that wide wood zone that once was defined “Selva d’Orba”, today
the reserve sees the presence of white and black poplars, elm trees and
willows hosting species of birds like the jay. During the night it is
possible to listen to birds of prey and owls while the most careful
visitors can meet the vixen, the badger, the beech-marten, the weasel
and the hare. In Spring and Summer, the very coloured birds like the
king fisher make their nests by digging on the steep banks of the river.
