THE GRUE AND OSSONA VALLEYS
Ideal zone for the ones who love cycling, but do not want to try the
more difficult routes of the Appennines and of the
Curone Valley, the Grue and Ossona valleys, with their sweet
declivities, do not have anything to be envied to morphologically
similar zones of central Italy, but more known to the eyes of Italian
and foreign tourists.
On
foot, in saddleback of a bicycle or of a horse, it is in fact here
possible to take a walk between the vineyards, the valleys and the
forests, on hilltops or among paths, searching historical traditions,
flora, fauna and the geologic particularities of the
Tortonese, a real edgecut between three
regions that here are met and dialogue one with the other, contaminating
themselves in an always original and pleasant solution.

The
provincial road that from Corso Coppi, in
Tortona, arrives at Avolasca, is the ideal path to discover, from
their hilltops, both valleys, with their beautiful villas and the vines:
Sarezzano, Mombisaggio, Villaromagnano, Cerreto Grue, Montebello and
Palenzona are the necessary steps of this itinerary to be tasted in any
minimal facet.
At
the end of the provincial road, Avolasca deserves a particular visit,
with its narrow streets and its ancient houses of stone. Over the
village there are forests, rich of lumber, chestnut trees and mushrooms
and the two ancient towers of Sant’Alosio that seem to have both the
valleys at their feet.
